We had an exciting experience the other day, when we were invited to participate in Greendex's radio show the day after tomorrow!

The episode focused on conventional and environmentally friendly cleaning products and other alternatives. It also discussed the harmful effects of chemicals on health and the patented technology behind CYCLE .

The CYCLE team was represented by our Development Manager, Emil Kovács.

The very beginning of the programme explores a fascinating topic: some common misconceptions about traditional cleaning products are dispelled. Many people choose certain detergents "blindly", purely out of conviction or brand loyalty, without reading the label. This in turn often leads to the accumulation of harmful substances such as chlorine or ammonia in our household.

While companies are obliged to label their products with harmful substances, many still ignore them. And we would never guess how important this information can be for our health and the environment.

The health risks that conventional cleaning products can posewere also discussed. When used for long periods, in confined environments, without protective equipment - rubber gloves, masks - and without moderation, they can cause serious problems, mainly in two areas. One of the main symptoms may be skin irritation and inhalation of these may also result in a significant impairment of lung capacity. They can also often causesymptoms of chemical allergy, affect the endocrine system, fertility and, last but not least, may have carcinogenic effects from long-term use of certain ingredients.

In addition, these products often contain unnecessary additives that do not otherwise affect purity, such as artificial fragrances or added colours. Without them, the cleaner would be just as effective as it is with them, but they are still used by manufacturers because they help the product stand out on the shelves of the supermarket. So often we stick to these fragrances and colours rather than the result!

What are healthy cleaning alternatives?

Fortunately, as the programme showed, there is now a growing range of environmentally friendly products that are not only effective, but also kinder to our health and the environment.

The second half of the episode introduced CYCLE and the patented, circular technology behind it! CYCLE is the result of a unique experimentation.

Emil explained in detail that CYCLE 's parent company is an engineering company that deals with the technology and construction of wastewater treatment plants. One of the technologies they have developed is to recycle the sludge produced by the treatment plants and recover valuable components from it.

Test its effectiveness!

Sewage sludge is usually treated as waste, but we see it as a valuable resource that can be recovered and recycled as an important step towards a sustainable future. As part of this process, the main ingredient in our cleaning products, an acetic acid mixture, is extracted from the sewage sludge.

Sewage sludge is treated by fermentation, where bacteria break down the sludge to produce acetic acid water, which we recover and use in our cleaning products. So we don't need to use a drop of fresh water, which means we're also conserving our water resources.

Emil goes into more detail about the circular design and tells the story of the CYCLE founder's personal mission.

And at the end of the podcast, we also learned about how vinegar and citric acid can be used in the home and the benefits we can enjoy. These ingredients not only have effective descaling properties, but are also safer and less harmful to the environment. However, it does matter how they are produced!
