The Cycle story

A Cycle research team investigated the potential of using sewage sludge and how to extract more biogas from organic waste. While testing efficient biogas production, the researchers noticed something interesting and started to look into it in more depth. In the process, researchers can recover natural acids (such as acetic acid) and turn them into useful products. It was only later that it became clear that these acids could be excellent natural cleaning ingredients. The theory was born, but it had to be put into practice.

"People see biomass as a waste, but we see it as a source of organic matter, a source of micro- and macro-nutrients."

What is the new mission?

They found a new mission: to extract bio-acids from biomass, mainly bioacetic acid. But this was a challenge, as they wanted to take control of biology. First they had to find out under what conditions acid-producing bacteria thrive and when they are most active. They realised that the acid-forming phase lasts for a very short time, so it was important for the researchers to intervene at the right time. Over the years, they eventually succeeded in extracting the valuable organic acids. Later, they were even able to extract water from the system, so that the natural detergent could be produced without wasting our finite freshwater resources. So nothing is actually wasted in the production process.

VIEW MISSION:
Biomass is used to extract bio-acids, biogas and water.
Everything is recycled and completely waste-free.

What can reNEW's technology do?

The reNEW technology successfully recycles biomass. From organic waste, it can extract several valuable raw materials: bio-acids and water for the production of detergents, as well as providing a high quality feedstock for biogas production. The resulting green energy source contributes to the functioning of the system. Meanwhile, it only keeps the beneficial bacteria alive.

The story does not end here. Micro- and macro-elements can also be recovered together with humic acid during the biomass recycling process. This makes an excellent plant nutrient solution. Thus, another valuable raw material is given back to nature, in addition to the creation of CYCLE, sustainable and effective chemical-free and recycled household cleaning products.

Further research and development work is currently underway in collaboration with the FCSM. There can and should be no stopping, as further developments will mean increasing their competitiveness in the market.

CYCLE, the organic cleaning brand created by reNEW Technologies

CYCLE cleaners are made from recycled water and natural ingredients, and are packaged in eco-friendly bottles made from recycled plastic - in 50ml and 500ml sizes. Sustainable, safe, child and animal friendly. CYCLE 's unique concept is to make cleaning more efficient, safer and greener.
