If only we had as many forints as we read or heard the phrase "smoking is bad for your health, quit"... But have you ever heard that you shouldn't clean because it can be bad for your health? But a recent study shows that cleaning your home can have the same effect on your lungs as smoking 20 cigarettes a day. And that's a big price to pay for a clean home.
Of course, we never advise you to stop cleaning once and for all. But it is all the more important that you choose how and with what you do it! And World Health Day is a great opportunity to take a look around at the detrimental effects of the traditional cleaning routine - and, of course, to show you much better alternatives for effective cleaning
Today it's all about health
World Health Day is celebrated to encourage people to learn to live a little more consciously and to pay more attention to preventing disease and reducing risk factors. However, there are aspects of this that are not talked about very much, but which still pose a significant risk in your everyday life. Many people, for example, don't even think about the harmful substances they put into their bodies when they clean - which is a fairly regular activity.
Have you ever had a headache, got a bit dizzy or started coughing while cleaning your home? It's not you, that's what we're talking about!
"A recent study involving people who clean or clean regularly at home highlighted the health risks. The results showed that the lung capacity of these people was significantly affected by cleaning," summarised Dr Julianne Barry of London Doctor Clinics.
What price a clean home? Don't pay for it with your health!
Many of the cleaning products you use regularly, probably including yourself, can cause irritation of the mucous membranes and lung capacity. Likewise, contact with the skin can be risky, as some of their ingredients are skin irritants and can easily cause dermatitis in people with sensitive skin.

How to look after your health when cleaning?
The key is awareness: both when shopping and when cleaning. Take our simple tips and you can do a lot for your health and a clean home.
Always check the ingredients!
It is a cause for suspicion if a product bought for general cleaning is labelled "not for human consumption" or "do not contact skin", not to mention the many pictograms warning against caution. Of course, we know that when it comes to home disinfection, you're looking for the strongest products, but that shouldn't also mean toxic.

Ammonia, chlorine, VOSs, parabens, SLS - just some of the ingredients you'd be better off avoiding. We've previously written in detail about toxic compounds in cleaning products, if you missed our article, catch up by clicking on the link.
And in the future, follow the principle of chemical-free use: only use products that you can safely put on your skin! For example, it's a good sign if you see organic, organic or baby-friendly labels on your product, as these require the manufacturer to meet higher standards.
If you still use traditional cleaning products, take protective measures!
It's still a good idea to let fresh air into your home several times a day, but when cleaning, make sure you can ventilate the room even more. On the other hand, it is also important to breathe in as little cleaning products containing chemicals as possible.
Having said that, it goes without saying that you should wear gloves. If you have sensitive skin anyway, there's no doubt that you need to take extra care to protect it, but many conventional cleaning products also contain allergens. These can cause problems even if you don't have sensitive skin.
And the best advice: switch to environmentally friendly cleaning products!
They contain only natural ingredients, so they are safe for your health. But unfortunately, many people have the misconception that natural cleaners are not as effective as chemicals. Of course, this is not true at all! For example, research shows that vinegar can kill fungus in just one minute and bacteria after 5 minutes. So you can use it to make your home as clean as the harsh cleaning products in the shops - but without their toxic, harmful effects. Of course, its many uses are not new - your grandmother and great-grandmother used to clean with vinegar for a reason.
A CYCLE innovative, chemical-free cleaning products all contain these ingredients, and they can help you create a sparkling clean home. You don't even have to worry about your health, as these products are safe for your skin and lungs.
