Eötvös10-at the Eötvös Lorraine Eötvös. From the very beginning, our small team felt it was important to participate in the event.
Last year we were present at the UNICEF Climate Conference, where we participated in an exciting panel discussion. Read more about this panel discussion in this article in this article. Building on last year's experience and taking into account the valuable feedback we received, we were there again this year, ready to give a new impetus to our sustainability efforts.
The CYCLE team at the UNICEF Climate Change Conference
Building on the experience of previous years , this year's conference was designed as a solution-focused, interactive programme. The aim was to help young people understand the impact of the environmental crisis and to gain personal experience and insight into tangible, environmentally friendly solutions and actions that they can implement in their daily lives the next day.
Focus on home and our environment
The organisers "staged" an apartment on the site and linked each space to a number of sustainability themes. Participants were thus able to feel at home while gaining personal experience and knowledge about climate protection. In the kitchen , for example, they learned about ways to reduce food waste and eat in an environmentally conscious way. In the bathroom, participants were informed about why tap water is one of our greatest treasures and how they can consciously use less water. In the living room , they talked about eco-friendly living and small steps anyone can take to become a Climate Hero. And in the bedroom , the children were given important information on how to have good air quality in the room. In the garden , youngsters learned about composting and gardening.
The climate conference was attended by a number of companies
CYCLE was joined at the event by organisations such as, such as Hungarian Food Bank Association, the Energy Club, a Beeco, a Hungarian Water and Sewage Technology Association, a Association of Environmental Service Providers and Manufacturers, a Green Hands Association, a Hungarian Environmental Education Association, the Ecopsychological Association, and Andi Tóth and Barnabás Kovács. All these companies and organisations worked together to make the event truly interactive and inspiring for all children.
CYCLE presented itself in the bathroom category
We shared information with young people on the importance of water and environmentally responsible cleaning, which is essential for a greener everyday life. The children completed an exciting quiz to test their knowledge, and also took part in a drawing competition with their super creations. For more information on the latter here for more information.
Interactive exercises for the curious participants
The enthusiasm of the children confirmed that young people are open to sustainability and are happy to participate in such initiatives.
We think this event is a great example of how to engage young people in sustainability initiatives and how the joint efforts of companies and NGOs can help to create a greener and more sustainable future.
CYCLE remains committed to sustainability and believes that through such initiatives we can lead future generations towards a better future.
See you at the next conference!
