It is estimated that around 115 million mice, rats, guinea pigs, birds, fish, rabbits, pigs, cows, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, monkeys and other animals are victims of laboratory experiments worldwide every year. This is an appalling number and totally unacceptable animal cruelty. CYCLE protests against all forms of violence and cruelty to animals.

CYCLE is now officially non-violent

CYCLE was the first company in Hungary to be awarded the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny trademark in the cleaning products category. The Leaping Bunny programme guarantees that no animal testing has been carried out at any stage of the product manufacturing process. Thus, as of 24 September 2020, CYCLE , the world's first manufacturer of recycled cleaning products, has become a legitimate user of the internationally recognised Leaping Bunny trademark.

The Global Programme's requirement for non-violence is more demanding than basic legal standards. All of our cleaning products under the brand have been awarded the International Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny Gold Level. As always, we continue to make it a priority to work with our suppliers to meet the Leaping Bunny requirements.

If not on animals, how do we test?

According to the Cruelty Free International website, there are many alternatives to avoid animal testing. These include cell culture, the use of human tissues, computer modelling, and testing on volunteers.

It has long been known that animal experiments often produce results that are difficult to generalise to humans. For example, when testing skin allergies, experiments on guinea pigs predict human allergic reactions with only 72% success. In contrast, a combination of chemical and cell-based alternative methods has been shown to give an accurate picture in 90 percent of cases. The infamous Draize irritation test (the same test that has been used on the eyes and skin of rabbits for decades) has also been shown to be only 60 per cent accurate in humans, while reconstructed human skin has been shown to be 86 per cent accurate.

Let's protect nature's values together!

"We are very proud to be the first company in Hungary to be awarded the Leaping Bunny trademark in the household products category. The Leaping Bunny logo of the internationally recognised standard will be prominently displayed on all our products. This way, customers can be assured that they are not only using a fully circular product, free of toxins, natural and recycled, but also non-violent. This trademark is perfectly in line with CYCLE 's philosophy of protecting the values of nature." - added Sunny Bhasin, owner of CYCLE .
