CYCLE cleaners - Frequently asked questions
1.Is CYCLE a non-toxic product?
Yes. CYCLE is totally non-toxic and in fact all ingredients are completely biodegradable and natural.
2. What is CYCLE made of?
The main ingredients are a mixture of repurposed organic acids (mainly acetic acid aka vinegar) and recycled water. The other key ingredients we use are citric acid, plant based surfactant, food grade xanthan (only in the toilet cleaner) and a tiny bit of natural essential oils for the fresh fragrance.
3. What does “recycled organic acids” mean?
Repurposed organic acids are a combination of acetic acid (aka vinegar), propionic acid, butyric acid and other organic acids in minute quantities. Our organic acids are derived from the fermentation of left-over biomass and therefore the moniker recycled. Fun fact - these organic acids are also formed in our bodies i.e. that's how safe they are!
4. Why is vinegar in CYCLE better than other vinegar based cleaners?
While plant-based vinegar is made of crop (corn, sugarcane) that is essentially food diverted for use as feedstock for industrial purposes, our organic acids (majority of which is acetic acid aka vinegar) is made from biomass. We upcycle carbon rather than create new carbon as in the case of plant or petro based products.
5. What is the packaging made of?
Our bottles are made of 100% post-consumer recycled plastic*. That means there is a chance that you have already met with this bottle before! (*excl. closure)
6. Is CYCLE recycled/recyclable?
The ingredients of CYCLE is 100% recyclable, the same way as it was made. As it goes down the drain, it becomes organic waste which can be biologically fermented again. The bottles are made of recycled plastic and after use, they can be recycled into something else again. Our weakest link is our spray head as it is neither recycled nor recyclable, so we encourage you to use it as long as possible.
7. What does “recycled cleaner” means?
The base ingredients of our cleaners are repurposed organic acids and recycled water gained through fermentation and distillation of waste. This forms more than 90% of the ingredients and are the justification for our use of recycled cleaner.
8. What happens to the bottle after use?
In case you put them into the correct bin, they go to a recycling center where they get cleaned, shredded and revived as a completely different product.
9. Is CYCLE a vegan product?
Absolutely! None of the ingredients contain any animal product. And if kombucha is vegan, so are we!
10. Is CYCLE safe to use around children and pets?
Yes. CYCLE is family-friendly, that includes all your loved ones.
11. Is there a way to refill?
Yes there is! Our concentrates are called CYCLE 10X, check them out!
12. How do I use the Starter kit?
Once you have purchased the starter kit, you can use it with the included 10X concentrates. When the bottles are empty, just order the refill pack and make the cleaners in the 500 ml bottles in the starter kit to CYCLE again!
13. How do I use refill pack?
Fill the appropriate CYCLE bottle with 450 ml of tap water and add the concentrate. Shake the bottle gently and it is ready to use in less than 1 minute.
14. Is there any surface I should avoid using CYCLE on?
Marble and copper may suffer some damage due to the natural properties of vinegar, so we recommend avoiding these surfaces TIP: NEVER mix bleach and vinegar as they form dangerous chlorine gas.
15. Is CYCLE tested on animals?
Heck no! No animals were harmed during research or production by us or by any of the ingredient manufacturers we use.
16. What about the fresh water?
We do not use fresh water, instead we recycle treated water discharged from a sewage treatment plant. We purify the water with our unique distillation technology to ensure pure water in CYCLE purifiers.
17. Why are the bottles made of plastic? Why not made of glass, for example?
At the moment there is no ideal solution when it comes to packaging. The glass bottle is too heavy and fragile, so it has a big impact on CO2 emissions and environment during transportation.
18. Does CYCLE use palm oil?
Due to its surface-active properties, the cleaners contain between 0.25% and 1.25% palm oil, but we carefully select who we source from to ensure a sustainable palm oil plantation.
